Thursday October 24, 2024 11:00am - 12:00pm PDT
Over 50% of Oregon is federal land, mostly administered by the U.S. Forest Service or ‎the Bureau of Land Management. Within those lands are many high-potential solar sites. This ‎panel will explore emerging issues in the siting process on federal lands with perspective from ‎practitioners, administrators, and developers.‎ Panel to include: Sara Sayles, Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, P.C. – will act as Mmoderator and provide ‎‎/an overview of potential changes to process due to Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo and its ‎effect on agency deference previously analyzed under Chevron.‎ Developer – talk about experience in/desire to engage in solar permitting on federal lands ‎‎(advantages, disadvantages, etc.).‎ BLM Official – context of BLM Public Lands Rule recognizing conservation as an ‎essential component of public lands management, and making it work for solar.‎ Lawson Fite, Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, P.C. – Discuss implications of BLM Public ‎Lands Rule and legal challenges to it; can touch on wildlife/NEPA issues as appropriate.‎

Avoiding “Death by PowerPoint”: Building Effective Narratives for Cleantech
Thursday October 24, 2024 11:00am - 12:00pm PDT
In this session, you will master the art of using a story framework to guide your audience on a compelling, memorable journey that achieves your desired outcomes.

Topics discussed:
1) How to build a narrative sequence that bakes story so your audience will be emotionally engaged before buying in fully with the technical justification that often is the hallmark of talks in the cleantech industry. I'll share a useful framework and lightly touch on slide design and delivery so attendees can get their points across in a compelling way.

2) Most relevant audience is anyone who gives presentations or talks. Leaders to internal groups, sales people to external non-technical groups, or fundraisers to investors.

3) Nervous about your presentations being met with silence? Looking to improve your ability to engage partners or customers? Attend this session to acquire the tools you need to stand out and get the results you want. This session will prepare you to share your perspective in a naturally confident way and let your innovative ideas define your future, not just your slides.
