About me
Oregon State Representative Mark Gamba became deeply concerned with climate chaos over 20 years ago as a photographer for National Geographic when he was seeing in real time glaciers disappearing and coral reefs bleaching. He became deeply concerned because those effects were occurring sooner than predicted. That concern led him to run for office.
He is the former two term Mayor of Milwaukie and currently serves on the Climate and Energy Committee in the Oregon House of Representatives.
During his time as Mayor he led the process to pass one of the strongest climate action plans in the state, invest in active transportation infrastructure, denser housing and strong tree protections. He continues that work at the state level both in efforts to pass important policy and to stop bad policy. Within his first year in the Legislature, he established the first professional Environmental Caucus in the country, which he serves as Co-Chair for.
